Selling on e-marketplaces

You can sell online without having a website of your own via emarketplaces such as Amazon, ebay and Etsy.

Which one should I choose?

In the same way you would consider which town your customers shop in when deciding where to put a physical shop you need to think about which of these platforms your customers are using, each platform has a different culture and different terms and conditions.

Etsy customers are usually looking for individually crafted items, ebay customers tend to be price driven etc.

If they do accept your items for sale it’s in their interest to help you be successful on their marketplace, they are also a business and the more you sell the more profit they gain. As a result all the marketplaces provide you with a lot of help and advice on how to use their marketplace to best advantage, search their site for hints and tips.

What do I need to think about?

Think about where your product sits in the market and where your customers will be before deciding which one to register with. Also bear in mind they do not have to accept your products for sale, you need to market yourself to them as much as you will to your direct customers.
