Business Support

Amanda Watson

What was your background before becoming an adviser and what industry experience do you have?

I have worked in finance within the Construction Industry for over 20 years, starting out as an apprentice in Business Administration, gained my AAT qualification in 2012 and worked my way up to Financial Director.

Since 2019 I have been self-employed as an outsourced Financial Director, bookkeeper and Accountant.

Areas of specialism/interest

I specialise in cashflow and financial management. I help companies get to grips with their finances by helping them better manage their cashflow.

Why did you become a business adviser? How long have you been an adviser/self employed?

I’ve been self-employed since 2019 and I became an adviser in 2020. I became an advisor to help lots of Companies manage the pitfalls of cashflow.  I have a magnitude of experience with debt chasing, having been on both sides so can help improve procedure to avoid the excuses of non-payment by debtors.

What do you most enjoy about the role?

I enjoy hearing the experiences of others and seeing how different businesses manage problems. An outsiders view offers perspective and an unbiased opinion how issues can be overcome.

When someone is so involved within a business it can become difficult to see the wood for the trees.  I have helped lots of Companies by just offering simple solutions that they are unable to see.

What was your biggest success to date?

I helped an Engineering Company recently to manage a multi-million pound contract that had fallen into financial difficulty steer their way to completion.

What have you learned being an adviser?

Every company is different and I enjoy learning new ways of doing things from the experience of others.

What type of businesses have been able to support and what support did you offer?

From new start-ups to well established businesses, they all have different journeys to make whether it be advice on the best way to start or how to grow, I help guide them through. I have experiences and advice to share and a wide network to call upon for expertise.
