Introduction to Export courses

Thanks to funding from Cumberland Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund we’re running two introduction to export courses in Workington and Whitehaven.

We’re at Energus on Thursday 19th September and Barclays Eagle Lab on Wednesday 23rd October – both sessions run from 10am to 4pm with lunch and refreshments included.

Are you interested in learning how selling your product or service overseas could help you grow your business?  Join us for a workshop with the Department for Business and Trade that will introduce you to the benefits of trading overseas and what you need to do to make your exporting journey a success.  In this interactive session, we will provide you with practical and no-nonsense advice that you need to get your exporting journey started.  We’ll cover things including choosing the right markets, doing effective research, getting your marketing message right and where to find help and support.

Presenter Simon Crosby leads the advisory team for the Department for Business & Trade (DBT) in the North East and Cumbria.  Simon has 15 years’ business development experience in the engineering and consumer goods markets throughout Asia, Europe and North America. Having worked with companies including Elfab, Grove Europe and Domnick Hunter, Simon has first-hand experience of building multi-million-pound distribution networks, business development with major retailers and the creation of B2C fulfilment channels.  Simon is the DBT regional lead for Canada, the USA and Mexico.

Email info@cumbriagrowthhub.co.uk to book onto either session.

Our first course which took place earlier this year at Komatsu Forest in Carlisle got some great feedback.

“This was interactive, interesting and thought provoking. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and gained some good advice”

“It was a really good day, it was one of the best training courses I’ve been on in terms of amount covered, depth of discussions and signposting to further resources”

“Simon was absolutely brilliant. What a mind of knowledge! I went in with one idea and he transformed it into something quite different – in a good way – and showed me a pathway I would never have considered”

We’re also partnering with East Lancs Chamber of Commerce to tap into their comprehensive export and import training course programme. Details will soon be added to both the Chamber and Cumbria Business Growth Hub websites.
