Taking my business forward: Inspiration and innovative thinking for a sustainable future – 30th April – 2pm to 5.30pm

Join Lancaster University for an informal and inspiring afternoon of discussion and collaboration at Basecamp North Lakes, Troutbeck, Penrith.

This event is for local SME and social enterprise business owners, leaders and managers based in, or conducting significant business in the Westmorland and Furness Council area.

SMEs are being told that they need to be innovative to become more sustainable. What does ‘being innovative’ mean for your business? Do you have to be innovative to be sustainable? And how can you be innovative in the current economic climate?

This short event will provide insights into recent research on sustainable businesses in Cumbria, revealing what being innovative means to them, what enabled them to think in new ways about being sustainable, and where the challenges lie. A framework of ways to think more creatively around what sustainability might mean for your business will be presented, followed by a discussion on how such a framework might help you find practical and economically viable sustainability solutions for your business, as well as think about ways that sustainability might also be an opportunity to grow your business.

The event is supported by the W&F Green enterprise Hub and there will be an opportunity to find out more about the different forms of support available through the Hub.

7th Sellafield PPP Framework supply chain event- Wednesday 3rd July – 9am to 4pm

The purpose of this event is to support businesses to understand how to engage with a number of organisations currently operating within the PPP Framework ( a very large, 16yr manufacturing, construction and engineering programme).A collaboration between Sir Robert McAlpine, Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick, NG Bailey, EJ Parker, Altrad Babcock, Severfield and Wm Hare, the emphasis of the event is to invite businesses into respective supply chains and introduce them to opportunities.

The scope of activity is manufacturing, construction, engineering – so this will be very relevant for any organisation working in these sectors, but also related professional service providers.

It is completely free, and if nothing else, being registered with the Supply Chain Sustainability School is very useful in itself.
