Stress management through Biological Well-being
Date: Tuesday, 6th of February 2024
Time: 9am to 12noon
Price: £100 +VAT members / £125 +VAT non-members
Venue: Castle Green Hotel, Kendal
Adapt & Evolve are delivering this workshop as a truly unique approach to stress management as it focuses on the biology behind stress, after a realisation that the traditional courses, services and society as a whole focus almost exclusively on the mental health aspect of well-being. We identified two problems with this approach which reduce the efficacy, regardless of industry or sector:
- Many people don’t recognise the onset of chronic stress. They tell their colleagues, friends, family and themselves that they are fine; busy but coping – and they genuinely believe it. Biological effects are already taking place and will be negatively impacting on the body long before they accept that they are trying to cope, producing symptoms which need recognising and addressing.
- There will for some people always remain a stigma around admitting they are struggling mentally. There is significantly less stigma around the physical health of the body, and so it is easier for people to understand and respond to these physical symptoms, getting help or using our coping strategies to manage their stress.
The workshop will provide the following awareness for delegates:
- Provide an explanation of the effect of stress on the human body
- Explain how stress affects you and your body
- To describe the key chemicals hormones that are relevant to stress
- To explore mechanisms to manage the negative aspects of stress
- An understanding of what stress is and why it exists
- Recognition of the symptoms of stress
- An awareness of the positive and negative aspects of stress
- An increased understanding of techniques and ‘what works’ in the pursuit of well-being
