Working in partnership with Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership, Cumbria Business Growth Hub is offering free, tailored support through a range of workshops, webinars, training, help to access wider supply chain opportunities and 1-2-1 adviser support which includes a business review/diagnostic to individuals and businesses in Barrow.
Available until 31st March 2024, there’s already some great support scheduled in.
Self-employment workshop
24th January – 9.30am to 11.30am – online
This workshop will run every other month, allowing those who attend to decide if self-employment is the right decision.
Topics covered include: reasons to start a business, benefits and pitfalls of self-employment, writing a business plan and what to include, registering with HMRC, VAT, record keeping, start-up costs and financing, forecasting and credit control.
Three day business start-up course
Wednesdays 15th & 22nd Feb and 1st March from 9:30am – 1:00pm – The Forum, 28 Duke Street, Barrow in Furness.
This course will run every quarter and covers:

Free training
We will run a training course every month, a mixture of online and in-person delivery. Booked so far are:
- 26th January – Back to basics – understanding your accounts – 10am to 1pm (online)
- 28th February – Using Canva for your business graphics – 10am to 12noon (online)
- 28th March – Digital marketing essentials – 10am to 12noon (online)

Our team of experienced and expert business advisers are also on hand to offer free business advice and support. They will also complete a ‘360’ business review/diagnostic.
