Eden Youth Hub is a partnership between Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Eden District Council and Inspira. DWP launched the Youth Hub at Eden Rural Foyer in October 2021, to help young people seeking work to do so in an environment they are comfortable with.
The Hub role provides an opportunity to help and support Eden’s out of work young people. The Youth Worker meets young people aged 16-24 in their local community to support them. Through
the hub they received help with access to employment, training and life skills, including travel support, tenancy support and interview techniques.
Meet Kimberley!
Kimberley Hall is the Eden Youth Worker at Eden Youth Hub. Kimberley has been seconded by Inspira and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. Eden covers a large area and whilst the Youth Hub is based in Penrith, not all the young people seeking work are. Rurality is often a barrier to work in Eden.
A number of young people have already benefited from engaging with the Hub. They have been given advice and support with budgeting, employment rights and responsibilities as well as improving employability skills and making sure they are aware of all opportunities available – and what they could lead to as long-term careers. Kimberley works in the Eden Youth Hub every Tuesday, and in Alston, Appleby, and Kirby Stephen at regular intervals. Young people registered as seeking work with DWP will be invited to take up Kimberley’s offer of support.
