Updated staffing solutions for your business

With employers across all sectors continuing to struggle to recruit, here are some opportunities you may find helpful.

We’ve previously highlighted the opportunities available through recruiting service leavers and the help available to do that. Career Transition Partnership, the specialist recruitment service for those looking to recruit service leavers, has announced its 2022 programme of CTP Employment Fairs. These are just one of the ways CTP can help large, small and medium organisations seeking high calibre candidates.

The fairs give you the opportunity to network with service leavers and provide the perfect forum for you to promote your business, showcase what’s great about working for your organisation and find talent without any recruitment costs. Whether you’re a regular at their previous Employment Fairs, or are new to them, CTP are committed to ensuring you have a high-quality experience and a worthwhile investment of your time.

Stand prices start from £450, with an ‘Early Bird Discount’ of 10% off when booking 5 or more events in one transaction before 5th November 2021. There are eight events planned over the year with northern events including Salford, Edinburgh and Leeds. Typically, 400+ service leavers attend each event and targeted email promotion to over 14,000 recipients.

Don’t forget that you can advertise roles with CTP at any time.

CTP is the only organisation that has direct access to the service leaver community. To work with CTP, you need to be signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant. You can contact the CTP Employer Relationship Manager, NE & Cumbria, Emma Wilkinson, via emma.wilkinson@ctp.org.uk.

Find out more about the benefits of recruiting ex-services personnel here and find out more about the Armed Forces Covenant here, or contact Vicky Doran, MOD Regional Employer Engagement Director, nw-reedn@rfc.mod.uk.

In encouraging businesses to look more widely we’ve also highlighted the opportunities through recruiting prison leavers. On 21 October the Ministry of Justice are will host the ‘Recruiting Prison Leavers Summit’, a free interactive virtual event to support businesses that are interested in recruiting people from prison.

With many businesses experiencing significant skills gaps, the summit is a timely opportunity to hear first-hand from employers including Greggs, Timpson and Greene King, about how they have benefited from recruiting people leaving prison. The summit will cover a range of themes, including corporate social responsibility and inclusive recruitment. Click here to book your place.

Our Managing Director, Suzanne Caldwell, was delighted to be part of the panel at Triple A’s recent Workforce Inclusion Conference. This was a truly fascinating and thought-provoking day providing a really valuable opportunity to hear first-hand from some of the world’s leading authorities on workplace inclusion and find out about Triple A’s UK/US collaboration to create meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with autism and other disabilities here in Cumbria.

If you’d like to find out more about the project, and how your organisation could get involved please visit here. You can also find out more about employing and supporting people with autism through https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/employment/employing-autistic-people/employers or karen.quinn@nas.org.uk.

Last but certainly not least, Inspira in partnership with Cumbria Careers Hub and Hello Future are organising a virtual careers fair for all year 11 pupils in Cumbria. They are inviting all businesses that offer apprenticeships to have a free stand. For more information contact Michelle Wiggins, Employer Engagement Coordinator, Inspira, michelle.wiggins@inspira.org.uk.
