Decarbonising the food supply chain – 26th June – 12noon
This event delivered via Barclays Eagle Labs will delve into how two specific ventures are reducing emissions across the food supply chain. Hubl’s CoolRun pods decarbonise cold transport logistics, and Future Greens’ anaerobic digesters enable farms and manufacturers to convert waste into energy.

Food Waste Reduction Resource Hub
Cumbria Tourism have launched a food waste reduction resource hub which details the Simpler Recycling requirements as well as case studies and other useful information.

Capital grant funding now live 
If you’re an SME and based in the old Barrow, Eden or South Lakes area you can now submit an expression of interest for capital grant funding.


Capital grants from £1,000 to £25,000 are available for purchase of equipment/machinery (including green/low carbon) and small scale capital improvements to help grow, diversify, innovate and improve productivity. They can cover up to 50% of the cost of your project, up to the maximum grant limit.


Due to limited funding we are unable to offer grants for solar panels unless use of panels is a limited element fundamental to a wider business growth project


The first stage of this competitive grant process is to complete an expression of interest. The deadline for consideration at the first panel is 12noon on Thursday 15th May 2025. There will be subsequent opportunities to apply, subject to availability.

Vouchers now available at £500 or £1000
If you’re an SME and based in the old Barrow, Eden or South Lakes area you can now apply for funds towards the cost of consultancy support.


Advice vouchers of £500 or £1,000 can be used with a consultant of your choice. No match funding is needed but you can choose to add more to enable more activity.


Vouchers can be used for a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to) marketing, website, accountancy, legal, HR, planning, agricultural consultancy, and to help towards the costs of our mentoring and export consultancy programmes.
