We’re giving you the opportunity to see behind the scenes at Cumbrian Stone, the location of our next site tour.

Come and join Cumbria Chamber of Commerce for a factory tour and talk at Cumbrian Stone in Penrith, where we will take a look at the full natural stone production process, from 15-ton quarry blocks all the way to hand carving and CNC profiling.

During this tour you will get the chance to try your hand at some hand cut lettering with the head stonemason, get to see the CNC stone cutting machines in action and have the chance to find out more about everything that happens behind the scenes – from lab testing and design through to some of the unexpected challenges natural stone can present.

You’ll also be provided with an insight into the early days of Cumbrian Stone, looking at the challenges they’ve faced as a UK manufacturer over the last two decades and how they’ve overcame these through a combination of automation and innovation. You will also discover the reasoning and decision process that led to Cumbrian Stone becoming the first natural stone manufacturer in the UK to adopt a four-day work week, and how this new work-life balance is going four years after it launched.

This is set to be an interesting and unique tour experience, and we hope you can join us. It’s also a great networking opportunity.
