The Lounge Spa, which opened in November 2024, offers a range of beauty and holistic therapies, specialising in the increasingly popular Japanese head spa treatment.

Launching when the treatment was still relatively new to the local market, the business quickly established itself by offering a specialist wellness experience to its growing client base.

As demand for Japanese head spa treatments increased, more salons in the area began offering the service and investing in dedicated head spa equipment.

Initially, The Lounge Spa delivered treatments using backwash sinks with head spa attachments. However, as competition grew, investing in professional equipment became essential to maintain high treatment standards, enhance the customer experience and remain competitive.

Without the investment, the business risked losing its market advantage and struggling to compete with salons offering fully equipped head spa facilities.

Support from Cumbria Business Growth Hub, through a £1,453.02 grant, enabled The Lounge Spa to purchase two professional Japanese head spa units.

The new mobile units provide greater versatility, improved ease of use and a more comfortable, professional experience for clients. Their flexibility also allows the business to maximise the use of its dedicated two-bed treatment room.

The investment has had a significant positive impact on the business, helping The Lounge Spa not only keep pace with growing competition but continue to stay ahead of it.

Despite increased competition in the market, the salon continues to experience growing client numbers, with the upgraded equipment playing a key role in supporting customer satisfaction and business growth.

The owner of The Lounge Spa said:

With its client base continuing to expand, The Lounge Spa is now looking towards its next stage of development.

Growing demand has given the business the confidence to explore plans for a larger salon space, increased capacity and additional treatment rooms, supporting its long-term growth ambitions.
