About Nick Lancaster

Nick has a wealth of industry experience having worked for Marriott’s Country Club Hotels and Scottish and Newcastle’s Chef and Brewer pubs earlier in his career.  He spent 17 years at the Langdale Estate leading a £15m investment which included the re-development of Langdale Hotel and Spa, and construction of Brimstone.

Nick was appointed Professor of Practice for Hospitality Management in 2020 at the University of Cumbria as he stepped back from his role as Managing Director for Langdale Leisure Limited.

A well-known figure in Lake District tourism Nick has championed environmental sustainability, accessibility and destination management.  He has chaired the Lake District Business Task Force and Nurture Lake District (Lake District Foundation) and held board positions for Cumbria Tourism, Norman Nicholson CIC, Outdoor Mobility and Rydal Hall Ltd.

Alongside Jackie, his wife, they now run their own consultancy business, which provides business support directly, via the Green Enterprise Hub (Future Proof Cumbria), Chamber of Commerce and Enterprising Cumbria.  Nick currently sits on the board of Millom Town Deal and as part of a sector group for Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership, whilst also remaining an active member of the Lake District Business Task Force.

Alongside this he is part of the team responsible for forming Sustainable Duddon CIO which in turn helped establish the Duddon Catchment Partnership.  The partnership is a cooperative effort to address issues around biodiversity, nature and climate action which brought together Sustainable Duddon, South Cumbria Rivers Trust, Duddon River Association and South Lakes Red Squirrel Group.
