Association of Business Mentors (ABM)

The Association of Business Mentors (ABM) is the UK’s only professional body representing the interests of individual mentors and coaches, mentoring organisations, mentoring programmes. Its purpose is to support UK business owners who seek to find and use a great business mentor or coach to help them drive their business forward.

The ABM was established ten years ago and is for individuals, organisations and programmes who wish to be members of an organisation that publicly and politically sets and raises the standards in business mentoring. The ultimate objective is to ensure all business owners are able to find and engage with a professional, trusted, experienced and knowledgeable business mentor, coach or consultant who can say unequivocally “I know what it’s like to be in your shoes.” They do what they do with empathy.

In 2021, the ABM will launch the UK’s first Level 5 and Level 7 in Professional Business Mentoring & Coaching and will also launch a robust and robust continuous learning and development opportunity for its members, ensuring they are fully versed on the fundamentals of mentoring and coaching, and are committed to learning more; as our members acknowledge publicly … ‘we don’t know what we don’t know.’

In 2020, The ABM increased its membership by 45%, including its first members in both Scotland and Northern Ireland. The ABM engages with The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) (at both ministerial level and Business Policy Team), Local Enterprise Partnerships, Growth Hubs, business support organisations, funded programmes, the Institute of Directors, academia, the European Mentoring & Coaching Council and many others.

The ABM is a not for profit organisation run by volunteer members for the benefit of its members.. There are two paid members of the team, a General Manager and Administration Manager. The association derives its income from membership fees and training. Any surplus is re-invested in promoting the ABM and professional business mentoring.
