As a potential importer it is vital to understand the complex issues of trading internationally. Importing is a process and needs planning with clear and focussed objectives. Taking time to consider the implications for your business and the need to be realistic within a timescale of what can be achieved is essential.

This short half day session will give practical tips and advice to enable your business to look at importing and consider the implications of compliance.

This training covers:

  • Brief introductions to why we import, market research, payment terms and Incoterms 2020 ®
  • Looking at your suppliers – preparing an import enquiry, checking the quotation, negotiation and ordering
  • Cost factors to consider on importing
  • Overview of HM Revenue and Customs regulations, embargoes, sanctions and other licences. Overview of import documentation and import agents
  • Help and advice, questions and assessments

Presenter: Mandy Lockett MIEx - With 32 years of international and commercial experience, commencing her career as an Export Sales Manager for a local manufacturing company, travelling widely to countries around the world, dealing with distributors, agents, payments, legislation, contracts and agreements. Mandy’s role is dedicated to providing and delivering a comprehensive support and consultancy service for British companies with an aim to encourage companies to start to increase their international trade activities.
